Dr Bruno Gomes is an orthopaedic surgeon specialising in hip, knee and deformity correction surgery.
Dr Gomes believes in the importance of using evidence based treatments for all patients. He ensures that his knowledge and skills remain up to date and in line with best practice. He has examined for the Royal Australian College of Surgeons and has presented and published research, in peer reviewed medical journals.
Dr Gomes grew up in Sydney and completed a medical degree at The University of Sydney in 2000. He moved to Newcastle for internship, and subsequently completed orthopaedic specialty training through the Newcastle program.
After finishing speciality training, Dr Gomes further developed his skills by completing two prestigious fellowships:
Upon returning from fellowship, Dr Gomes set up practice in Newcastle. He moved to newly renovated rooms in Charlestown, in 2015.
During a rotation at Gosford District Hospital he met his now wife, Dr Erica Gomes, who is a GP at Smith Street Medical Centre. In his spare time, he enjoys playing basketball and spending time with his wife, and their two young daughters.
